two good things

  1. Lost weight this week. Or at least I had as of Tuesday; belt slipping a notch tighter despite longjohns this morning seems to support this.

  2. Got the last of the 30 skill points in Ratchet and Clank last night. Now I only need to get the last few bonus weapons and the last handful of platinum bolts to have totally drained the game of its last dregs of entertainment value.

I think that, for most of us, the "entertainment value" would have been reduced long ago. What does that last platinum bolt get you, is the question?

er. agreed. so not a vidgamer. i look at the vidgamers in the corner of group's parties as they exchange cheats and wonder 'why?'

why?

There's a difference between vidgamers like that, and what curgoth is doing.

He's not obsessed to the point of ignoring friends or social gatherings. It's not about beating other people. It's about challenging himself to do better.

He enjoys it. He enjoys playing, and he enjoys challenging himself.

I enjoy the game, too, although I play in a very different way than he does.

erg. I suspect my total lack of hand eye coordination in front of an idiot box forever isolates me from understanding the appeal...

I always thought I had no hand-eye coordination, and I can't play most fighting games for crap, but R&C is a lot of fun, and manages to teach you, as you go along, how to make your character do different things.

Well, yes, dear, but that's you.

It gets him the satisfaction of knowing that he's won the game.

If it makes him happy, and it doesn't hurt anyone else, then it's all good.
