I note that the meme has left off the part about being naked in the shower this time around for some reason.

1. What is the first thing you remember about meeting me?
When I first saw you, I thought that you looked more like my kind of people than anyone else there, except for the blue jeans. When we actually met and talked? I think I was shocked that you weren't giving me shit about how I looked. Looking weird had gotten me into conversations before, but they were usually of the "so what's up with the hair/boots/kilt/whatever?" variety.
2. Describe your perfect job.
Coding and designing from well-defined requirements to make useful things. Also, time for experimenting with new tech and new ways to do things. All of this, ideally, without having to do support, especially of the pager kind.
3. Describe your perfect house.
One with space for all the stuff I want to do.
4. If you could get a Monster House, what theme would you want to go with? (If I didn't put any limits on it. And this is serious - what would you want to live with?)
Definitely castle. Paranoid exterior; crenellated towers and walls, a moat or ditch, machiolations, etc. Inside, less traditional, creepy, but fun creepy. No giant tiki god, but some firebreathing dragon heads might not be out of the question. The kind of house that spooky fairy tales are made of.
5. How did I get so incredibly lucky?
Monkey.

1. Describe the first time you ever got drunk.
I had been 19 for two months, and went over to a friend's place for New Year's Eve. He had a 40 oz bottle of Jack Daniels. I drank half of it, mixed with pop. By the end of the night, I was drinking jack with orange soda. I remember being astonished that alcohol tasted good. I spent the next day in abject misery, unable to move.
2. Do you use your powers for good, or for awesome?
For awesome.
3. When did you first draw the seven-pointed sun?
It evolved from doodles of barbed wire. From there, I started making necklaces, the first of which were just lengths of copper wire twisted together into circles, with sharp ends sticking up. The later model was the one I still wear fairly often, with the nails attached. As the necklaces evolved, so too did the sketches I was working from, and I ended up with the thorn-crowned sun.
4. What *do* you do with a drunken sailor?
But why is the rum gone?
5. What do you like most about programming?
The problem solving. Throwing my mind at a task and creating a solution.
From
1. What do you think is the strangest/creepiest movie ever made?
Hrm. This is a tough one... Lynch's Blue Velvet scores high. While it's not that great a movie, I found The Astronaut's Wife to be pretty creepy, but that may have to do with my views on children. Signs had me sleeping with a knife next to the bed, but it wasn't all that strange, really.
2. What books do you think I should read?
Everything ever written by Tad Williams, Neil Gaiman and Steven Brust. Most of the stuff written by Neal Stephenson, particularly Cryptonomicon and his new one, Quicksilver.
3. Did you ever participate in competitive sports? Why not (or why did
you stop)?
I played soccer as a kid. I stunk. I once scored on my own net, unintentionally. I always ended up on the "leftovers" team; the older coaches knew which kids were good, and rigged it so that they got good players. I always ended up with the newbie coach who ended up with the rest of us. I hated soccer.
Much later, in jujutsu, I once competed in a grappling tourament, but didn't do terribly well, mostly because all the guys in my weight class (heavyweight, at 170 lbs) were much more heavily muscled than I was, and my skill level wasn't high enough to offset the strength disadvantage.
In general, I was raised to avoid competition; my parents had me play "cooperative" board games as a kid, where no one actually won. I think this is why I like roleplaying as much as I do; it's an inherently non-competitive thing, in that raw competition always seems to ruin a game.
4. When did you first meet me, and what was your first impression of me?
I think the first time I met you was at a party (birthday party? anniversary party? something like that) at Kath and Conrad's place, that they shared with TrainDave in Hamilton. I'd heard stories about your wedding several times from Liz, but I think that was the first time I met you. I had expected you to be much taller (I almost always expect men to be taller than I am, and women to be my height), and, for some reason, from Liz' stories, I expected you to have a kilt on. I don't think I actually talked to you until we started Labyrinth. At that point, my main impression was shock that there were other people who actually like to role play the same way I do.
5. What is your favourite kind of monkey?
Bonobos, definitely bonobos, even though they're, stritcly speaking, apes rather than monkeys.
