PSA for Rogers cell phone users; their rules on tethering are changing. Basically, from what I can tell, if you've got a data plan of 1 GB/month or more, you're good, otherwise, it's just turned off.

You can now track (some) TTC streetcars online at NextBus. The service also includes a live map of the cars (like the one you can see at Spadina station), and a text service where you give the stop and a time limit, and it'll text you when the car is that many minutes away. It's GPS based, so it should be accurate even when the cars are not on schedule.

The streetcars with the worst service (Queen) are not on the service yet, but St. Clair, Bathurst, College and Dundas all are.

someone must have noticed a big hit in use; most of the routes have been pulled.

What Do I Do With... is a web app for determining how to properly dispose of your junk. The only problem I have is that it seems to fail for appartments - it'll tell me how to dispose of electronics at curbside for houses and residential voer commercial, but not for appartment buildings. Also, their list of waste depots only has addresses, no maps. I can look it up, but having them show me where they are would simplify things.

I think we're up to four or five dead computers in our place. Space is beginning to be an issue.

Things learned tonight:

  • If I use primer on my eyes before putting on eyeliner, it will actually not run, even with the amount I sweat when dancing!

  • I can dance all night in a gi top, because it breathes well. Unlike my old Darth Maul tunic made from heavy polyester.

  • I've learned a lot about sewing since I made my long Sith robe for Hallowmas. I spent some time this afternoon going over it, zigzag stitching the seams and reattaching the sleeve I put on inside out the first time. I put it back on inside out again, but now it's harder to tell since the seams are finished better.

Questions pondered:

  • Is it acceptable to glowstick to Industrial/EBM if you're doing it at Dark Rave?

  • If the dance floor is entirely empty, does it become acceptable to violate the normal politeness rule about not throwing high kicks on the dance floor?

I dragged myself out to DarkRave this evening, and had a pretty good time. I think a fair number of the more hard core out of high school Dark Rave crew were at BM or something similar - the crowd was a little thin, and there seemed to be fewer 20-somethings; lots of kids and a fair number of the old guard. Holy Joes was Industrial/EBM all night, so I spent most of my time up there, wandering off to glowstick occasionally in the more air-conditioned room to change muscle groups for a bit. The downstairs wasn't bad music-wise, but the crowd were not my people - I haven't seen that much white under black light since... ever.

In any case, that was a good night out. Now, I should go to bed.

Stitch and Bitch is ON for Thanksgiving Monday this weekend. I'll be home and fighting with my dressmaker's form, hopefully actually doing things with it.

Doors open at noon, until I kick you out. There may well be board games and such as well. All are welcome.

No, not the fun kind of drugs.

I hab a code. Sinus ick, coughing, etc.

As part of this, I've been taking dayquil to keep me functional at work. I noticed that they have a new formula; instead of pseudoephedrine, they've got phenylephrine hydrochloride in them, which is a) a somewhat less good decongestant and b) a much weaker stimulant and c) cannot be used to make crystal meth, which is why the formula changed.

This is pleasing to me, since it means I don't have to worry about it keeping me up. Except that the cold is hitting me in such a way that I'm finding I now need to supplment the dayquil with tea to keep my eyes open. I'm definitely happy to have the option of controlling my stimulant intake, though.

PSA; for the next few weeks, the subway will be taking a different route along the Bloor line. Bay station is closed on Saturday and Sunday for construction, and no trains are going through the lower half of St. George. The new route goes from Museum (which runs N, S, E and W trains during this), to St. George's upper floor, then through, as the driver put it, "The Magical World of Lower Bay Station" before going on to Yonge. So, if you've always wondered what Lower Bay station looks like, now's your chance.

On the other hand, be prepared for an extra 10-15 minutes of travel time alng the Bloor line on weekends until this is done.

Anyone interested in buying my ticket for the NiN/Bauhaus/Peaches concert tomorrow night? It's in the 305 section. I'd be selling it for what I paid, around $65, iirc. I'm still going to go, but [livejournal.com profile] mycrazyhair has a ticket going to waste, so the plan is to sell my ticket and go sit with her so no one loses any money.

Leonard Cohen is dropping by downtown Toronto on May 13th at 4pm. I won't be able to make it, but I think some of the other people on my flist might like to.

I slept last night! I was so impressed by this activity, that I intend to try this "sleep" every night for the next little while. Most importantly, I should be able to muddle through the day without the demon caffeine, and thereby eventually get this sumo wrestler off the right side of my chest.

I'm trying to hold to my new resolution of not reading LJ during the day (though I may post or read comments).

Finally, there's a 9ICB fundraiser tonight, featuring among others, the Wet Spots (who did the "Do You Take It..." song that did the rounds on LJ last month). I had intended to go, but I think I need another night of recovery before doing anything exciting.

I've taken a quick glance at LJ in the past week, but there's no way I'm going to have time to go back and read everything. If something happened that you want/need me to know about, you may want to mention it or give me a pointer to the post.

You all may or may not have noticed, but LJ's comment e-mails aren't coming through as well as usual due to stuff related to the server move. There is a toy that you can use to check you most recent comments, though. I'm pleased, because I'vebeen looking for something like this for a while.
