It seems like maybe doing six acro classes last week was maybe a little much. Today's handstand and beginner acro class dragged. Last week, my handstands were great, but today I was just a little too tired to be amazing.

Playing on the tumble track (a long trampoline)  is still fun, though, and my front handsprings are still improving.

Trying to get my body to recover from bingeing in November and December. Some progress has been made. I'm hopeful that I will get all of my pants back soon.  Trying to spend more of my calories, even on high exercise days, on actual nutritious food rather than sugar and/or booze.

Super sleepy today - almost fell asleep on the couch when I should have been leaving for acro this afternoon.

Managed to convince myself to do a first pass on sweeping the snow off the car on my way home, so tomorrow won't be quite as bad. Though in doing so I managed to pour heaps of snow on the sidewalk the super next door had just finished cleaning, so I offered to shovel it up. There's a foot or more of snow surrounding my car on all sides, so getting out might be fun at 7:30 tomorrow.

Now, though, sleeeeep.

For those on my flist not in Toronto, a super brief summary.

There's been protesting, rioting, violence by thugs on both sides. I avoided it, though a northerly shift meant I saw the police getting ready on my way to buy fabric.

I and all my peoples are safe.

I am hoping tomorrow will be quieter.

Ok, I know that there was a weekend in there somewhere. I seem to have lost track of it, though. I know there was singing, movie rental and playing old video games, and laser scissors. I somehow seemed to have missed out on doing a bunch of things I meant to do, though.

Grr.: Seem to have messed up my jaw significantly - it's painful enough that I've gone through the tylenol-3s I didn't need when I got snipped. I should probably go see the dentist about it being all mis-aligned and painful, but I feel guilty since I went to the doctor last week for my asthma. Also; wtf, body. Just work properly and stop whining/breaking. Also, pls deliver the washboard abs I requested last year.

Grr.: $100+ USB microphone I bought for the last NVF session seems to have completely died. I was great for the session it worked during. I no longer have the receipt.

Yay: Got enough mikes working in the room that we managed anyway. I am half wondering if I should start recording these to make campaign logs easier.

Yay: Sound effects - gaming is even more fun with The Drama Button, Sad Trombone and Instant Rimshot.

Yay: Awesome anniversary dinner with [livejournal.com profile] neeuqdrazil. Our first date was 13 freaking years ago. We OLD.

part 1: fashion.

Last night, the belt I wear with my work pants broke. It has been getting worn, but I realised that I can put my finger through the hole that the buckle goes through. Since I was at work until 8:30 last night, this meant that shops were closed by the time I got back near home, leaving me beltless for today.

Since I had no belt, I wore suspenders to keep my pants up. I also added a grey vest over the standard black oxford shirt to cover up the suspenders and give me a pocket to keep my phone in. The pocket watch was a natural addition at that point. As was the grey silk brocade tie. I used my new skills and did a full windsor knot. I considered a fedora, but since I lack a good overcoat, the effect would have been wasted.

I need to go buy a new belt this weekend.

I'm not sure what to do about footwear - my combats have a big split in the leather, but I can't afford to replace or repair them right now.

part 2: medical.

A wheezy day today, despite the advair. I called off the planned gym experiment - I am concerned that if I have to leave classes gasping for air too often, they'll have to ban me from the gym. and that would upset me greatly.

part 3: gaming.

I've decided on running Nano-Victorian Futures and Sleepers at ACUS. The website has stymied my attempts to register games thus far. I have been mucking around the wiki adding more NVF character gneration examples and the skeleton of a section for Sleepers. I've got a plot seed for NVF that should grow into an actual plot before the con. Still not sure what Sleepers will be about plot-wise, but if all goes according to plan, I should just need to nudge the players a bit and sit back to watch the mayhem. I'm really hoping someone comes up with a Sleeper that is weirder than my sample ideas.

part 4: NOMs.

I really want chocolate right now. Instead, I have apples. I do not want apples.

Tired due to almost too much weekend.

Friday and Saturday during the day were low key. The excitement started with dinner with the LizRents at Terroni. Next was Dark Rave, getting to bed around 4:30am. I was up at around 8:30, and down in Chinatown for dim sum with [livejournal.com profile] olletho and crew for 10:30. By 2pm, I was at the Toronto Steampunk Society meetup for photoroaming the Distillery District. We are a bunch of hams. Also, steampunks + segways == hilarity. We are considering going back at some point and renting a pack of them. The five step rule was in effect for a good chunk of the roam - take five steps and another group of people with cameras materialize and take aim. My pics will be up... eventually. This set needs some photoshopping to insert the zeppelin and lasers.

Dinner at Fionn's rounded out the weekend. An early bed time produced extra sleep, though not quite enough - still wiped this morning.

On the plus side, I have learned a valuable skill - making weak tea. If I make tea with 1 tsp of leaves per cup, the tea is weak enough that I can still sleep at night. Before, my habit was to use 1 tbsp or more per cup, and I used to steep it longer.

Back from Worldcon. Has a fantastic time with [livejournal.com profile] mycrazyhair. There are a few pictures from my phone, though not great since I took most of them at night. I'll try to get them up on flickr some time soon.

That Guy (tm) was out in force, but not as much as I had feared. The workshops were great, and it was lovely seeing people, especially those who I don't get to see often.

Highlights include seeing [livejournal.com profile] tormenta hold her own on a panel that included an MIT professor and being utterly bloody brilliant, gothclubbing with some awesome folks, hanging out Sunday night at the bar with the freaking absinthe fountains, pubcrawling, and, yeah, the panels, too.

I also enjoyed getting to spend a whole week dressed like a weirdo (which is to say, like me). Maybe some day I'll even get to the level where I can throw something into the masquerade.

Today was resting, getting laundry and errands done and reconnecting with [livejournal.com profile] neeuqdrazil.

I've dumped a bunch of brown dye on my hair to take it down to something less than incandescent, and mostly unpacked. Tomorrow I go back to corporate drag.

Last night I dreamt that we rented a lion. So we were stuck with this big freaking lion in our living room. The lion was knocking stuff over and generally being a pest, and we were all too terrified of it to try to stop him. The scene shifted, and we had a deck, and more than just the lion - we had a whole menagerie of dangerous animals, though none quite so big as the lion.

In other news, I now have a one inch spiderweb crack in my windshield. At lunch I will be trying to get that fixed.

The weather is gorgeous, and this is a three day week for me. Productivity is hard.

Good: Got some sewing gadgets last night, including cases to store my thread and bobbins. No more tangled mass in a plastic bag!
Good: Got some work done on shirtmod #2
Good: Got caught up on TV last night (Heroes, Fringe, Dollhouse)
Good: Got my backup strategy figured out, so tar is now happily churning away dumping 250 GB to my windows box. When that's done, I get to fiddle with the RAID and see if I can manage to *not* blow it up.
Bad: Apparently the last ep of Dollhouse isn't going to air. Dear Fox; WTF.
Bad: I got caught up fiddling with the backups, and didn't check the gym's hours until noon. They close at two. So I guess I'm gymming tomorrow, and should get laundry done today.

Now, I have successfully managed pants, and it is time to go get some lunch.

I took today as a day off to recover from last weekend's workfest.

I had vague plans to be all productive and stuff - hitting the gym, sewing, maybe trying to take the car in to the shop.

None of these things happened.

Instead, I slept in until nearly 11, wandered around until Liz and I (she's home sick today) went out for lunch.

Since returning from lunch I have... still done nothing. I had thought about at least doing laundry. Nope.

Apparently I was overdue for a day of doing nothing at all.

Weekend awesome.

Friday, dancing in the woods, and nice low key afters, even with the sneezing.

Saturday, sleeping, then cuddling and watching bad actors shoot at each other.

Sunday, shopping, and turkey at the pub.

Monday, tofurkey, gym, and stitch and bitch.

Now, to put away laundry so I can actually sleep in the bed instead of the couch I've been sleeping on all weekend while [livejournal.com profile] neeuqdrazil has been away.

No, is too much, let me sum up... )
Hand *not* broken, thankfully. It still hurts, but it should heal fine on its own - I only have to worry about the present pain, and not the hand being messed up for years to come.

and now, dreamtime )

I had a good con.

I finally had a shamrock shake. They taste like minty chemicals. I couldn't finish mine.

My games were all awesome. I'd promise to review them, but I probably won't.

Brutally tired. Did not get searched at the border in either direction!

I won the graphic design contest, so my pattern sword picture will be on next year's t-shirt. I was not expecting to win!

Got pretty clothes.

Work tomorrow. Sleep now.

doom!

The doc gave me antibiotics and an advair inhaler for the Ick. They both list dizziness as a possible side effect - I'm defintely foggy-headed. I'm also supposed to avoid dairy and advil while I'm on them.

I noticed something this morning; we have both black rice and black lentils. Clearly I need to do something with this.

My computer works! I can sync my phone and ipod again!

For Sheridan people; take a look here, and then look here. (Sheridan is a school known for art and animation. It was locked down because a student with a tripod was mistaken for a gunman.)

I have a lot to do at work today. But no brain to do it with.

Tonight is yummy anniversary dinner with my LizardLove. I think I will risk the side effects of dairy consumption for dinner.

The weather forecast today is calling for "every kind of bad weather imaginable". I do not feel like driving in that, so I am safely ensconced in my office at home. There may be a trip to the gym at 4. Working from here means i can continue to poke the sick new computer throughout the day, and maybe get some laundry done.

More blood. Today it didn't even wait for me to go to bed.

The computer I have had for less than a week, even after it's first re-install of windows, still seems to be losing time. A lot of time. Enough that it makes the computer close to sueless, once it gets going - dropping 3-4 hours overnight because it keeps hiccoughing is not useful. I predict arguments with support and having to ship it back some time soon. Pity.

I have been craving curry pasta with tomatoes and chickpeas, but I haven't been able to face a trip to the store on top of everything else. So tonight I made do with what I had (though starting to make dinner at 9:30 may not have been the best choice)

I ended up with a sauce made of onion, garlic, ginger, spices, frozen peppers, frozen peas, frozen spinach, and a mixture of pure soy protein powder and chickpea flour. the result was... weighty. I had no tomatoes and no chickpeas - I will have to add those to the list of things to always have on hand.

On the Good list;

* Got a couple guilt gorillas off my back on work stuff (by staying at work past 7pm)
* Lizard snuck in home before me and left me timbits
* My last ebay purchase arrived - I has tie pins
* I managed to do a fair bit of dish washing
* I've had enough water and alcohol that I might actally sleep once my nose stops bleeding (even if I am on to the Old Krupnik because I'm out of sippable rum)

I'm finally starting to feel human again. Hopefully the recent scariness has mostly been due to being even more exhausted than I thought. I could easily go back to sleep for a few hours now, though that would ruin me for sleep tonight. I think, instead, that I will sit here and play civ 4, or possibly start watching dexter.
