Has Dr. Horrible tapped out the market for Mad Science for the next year or so? I'm beginning to think that I need to change my halloween costume idea.
So, I have been starting to accumulate stuff for a Mad Scientist costume of Hallowe'en (or, you know, whenever mad science calls). I have a pretty clear picture in my mind how I want the outfit to look.

Then, yesterday, I realise that Dr. Steel has already got the exact outfit I was working on, right down to the pair of boots I had in mind for it.

I am amused.

In other costumy news, my second set of goggles is done. Parts of them glow in the dark. The respirator paint job still needs some work, but since I wasn't planning to take that to Dark Rave Saturday, I'm okay with that.
Fall is approaching, and that means it's time to move partying indoors.

I'm looking to schedule this year's CHEESE (Curgoth's Halloween Extremely Exciting Spectacular Extravaganza); I'm looking at October 27th at this point. [livejournal.com profile] neeuqdrazil may end up missing it this year, which will be sad. I hope all the other attendees will do thier best to show lots of cleavage to make up for her abscence, since that's usually her department.

There is talk of doing another mass birthday bash again this year, but negotitions are underway to try to have it at a place that is bigger than our place this year. If that works out, I'll let that host do the actual party announcements, but I will mention that the proposed date is Nov 17th. Details (potentially also the date) still in flux.

Other have mentioned, but not yet announced a couple of December events; if you are planning something for that month, and hope to include me or others of my Tribe, it's not too early to start looking at dates to see which ones are still open. :)

My weekend was awesome.

Friday I was fretting and fussing about various CHEESE prep things (though much less than expected due to the awesomeness of [livejournal.com profile] corwin77).

Saturday was spent sewing and shopping with [livejournal.com profile] corwin77, [livejournal.com profile] bleakenigma, [livejournal.com profile] tygerdsebat, [livejournal.com profile] thekat03 and Tod whose LJ name I can't remember. These worthies get special thanks for helping us pull everything together, and more than earning thier crash space. :)

Then, CHEESE! It was, I beleive an unqualified success - I didn't even have to force anyone into a costume this year! The second batch of Naked Warrior God Funeral wine didn't turn out as well as the first (too much salt this time), but both it and the ginger tea ended up all getting consumed. We managed a fairly broad cross section of friends to CHEESE this year, and had about the right number of people - enough to fill the place, but not to overflowing.

Thank you to everyone who came and made it such a success, and for putting in the effort for such keen costumes!

Sunday was recovery - eating primarly leftover fruit, veggies and hummus from CHEESE, and playing Primal on the ps2. The evening featured a fantastic dinner courtesy of the LizardRents.

Today, I am in mild gastrointestinal discomfort, very tired, and being paged a great deal. I am not, however, miserable, largely due to having had a great weekend.

In other news, I really need to compile my CHEESE pictures, put away laundry, and compile a giftlist for the grandmothers for the impending BirthMas time period.

woo hoo! The Halloween party costumes are done!

I'm satisfied with how they've turned out. Even the makeup plans seem to have worked out. I haven't tested my grand hair plans yet, though. Is two cans of hair-spray enough? Will I have trouble with my hair hitting the ceiling if I pull this off?

More news as it becomes available.

This weekend, we sewed.

Some, but not enough. I'm not too worried about my costume; after all, I have friday off, so thursday night and friday morning I can finish things up if need be.

I have some concerns about lizard's costume though. We got too lazy this weekend. Or too tired.

Some day, I will learn how to communicate the designs I get in my head. Making costumes with other peoples' involvement always seem to end up with both of us frustrated and annoyed because no one besides me knows what I am trying to do.

However. The costumes will be ready by friday night. we will be dressed up and ready to rock. It looks like everyone will show up, and wackyness will ensue.

Also, I noticed an odd thing yesterday; we will have an even number of male and female party-goers friday.

We didn't plan it that way, but I think it is a good thing.
