It seems like maybe doing six acro classes last week was maybe a little much. Today's handstand and beginner acro class dragged. Last week, my handstands were great, but today I was just a little too tired to be amazing.

Playing on the tumble track (a long trampoline)  is still fun, though, and my front handsprings are still improving.

Trying to get my body to recover from bingeing in November and December. Some progress has been made. I'm hopeful that I will get all of my pants back soon.  Trying to spend more of my calories, even on high exercise days, on actual nutritious food rather than sugar and/or booze.

Super sleepy today - almost fell asleep on the couch when I should have been leaving for acro this afternoon.

Managed to convince myself to do a first pass on sweeping the snow off the car on my way home, so tomorrow won't be quite as bad. Though in doing so I managed to pour heaps of snow on the sidewalk the super next door had just finished cleaning, so I offered to shovel it up. There's a foot or more of snow surrounding my car on all sides, so getting out might be fun at 7:30 tomorrow.

Now, though, sleeeeep.
It has occurred to me that some of the acro stuff I keep talking about doesn't make sense going just on description.

So, here's what I am working on now and what my goals are. Class has 6 stations, plus there's a few things I am working on on my own. The stations are presented in the order I usually go through them, but the starting points are by choice.

I had to try extra hard to not have all the videos feature 7 year old girls, because apparently that is who do the most gymnastics videos, and it looks really, really easy when they do it. Never watch the kids.

I just made it through a 45 minute body combat class without an asthma attack!

So I guess the corticosteroids are working.

Yay semi-functioning lungs!

Of course, I'm sore and tired because it's my first real workout in a while, but at least I am now moving in the right direction. Hopefully, this also means that I'll be okay when contact dance starts up again next week.

Last week, at the gym, I found a re d gel cap on the floor. I picked it up and took a look at the pill.

Novofen, which according to the internets is an estrogen inhibitor. Part of a steroid regimen.

I no longer feel quite so bad about not being as built as the other guys at the gym who go as often as I do.

After being miserable all day, I had a great workout at the gym, and left feeling much better.

I also learned that the only trainer at the gym at work is a pig, but that just confirms for me that I won't be buying any training sessions any time soon.

I should be in bed.

I am waiting for the "nooooooo!" scene in Revenge of the Sith to come up on Spike before bed.

Yesterday, I worked for 16 hours. I was not on-call, but got called anyway. Today, there were many meetings, and caffeine. If this continues, I will have to force my manager to promote me and give me another raise to compensate me for being effectively on-call all the freaking time.. Also, I should quit. Anyway.

Today was the 2nd week in a row of having Body combat class at the gym, with only one other attendee besides the instructor and myself. It's good for me to have someone else push me, especially when work keeps ruining workout nights. I hit the happy endorphin place today.

We've got a chest freezer now, and keep buying cheap local produce to freeze for the winter. My Evil Corporate Masters have boxes of peppers on for $8 right now. I bought two. I should stop buying stuff soon.

Apparently, I am in a good mood, and reading Lj and FB keeps giving me squishy compersion feelings. Y'all are so cute!

Did I mention I that I should be in bed?

Last night, I may have slightly overdid it at the gym. No injury, but I'm still feeling wiped and shakey the next day. This meant I was pretty tightly wound and cranky last night (apologies to the stich and bitchers who had to put up with me being surly while ironing).

I broke two sewing machine needles sewing the belt loops on the utility belt before I figured out what not to do.

Around 11, as I was finishing up the sewing, I heard from outside somewhere and angry, at least slightly drunken male voice scream "Shut the god damned door!", followed by the clear sound of a slap, skin on skin, and an adult female voice shouting "Ow!" I went out on the balcony to try to figure out where the sound was coming from, but I couldn't hear anything else.

This morning, there was a note up in the elevator about a man trying to get into our building, having threatened someone who wouldn't let him in that he'd "be back".

Some days, I think I don't own enough weaponry.

Now that the death march hours should be finally over, I'm looking at the physical damage it's done. I haven't been to the gym in three weeks, and I've been consuming a lot of caffeine. My liver is sore, and my right leg/hip are aching enough that I'm getting a bit of a limp again.

I'm going to take it easy this week, just stretching and lower impact cardio, both to ease back into exercising, and to give myself more time to get ready for camping this coming weekend.

I'm also going to try to a "detox" - I am going to try to give up alcohol, caffeine and sweets for three weeks to give my body a chance to heal a bit. We'll see how possible it is; caffeine-free and driving on less than enough sleep can be risky, and sugar is usually my backup stimulant when I am avoiding caffeine.

Right now, I rather wish I could just crawl off and nap for a couple days.

Because bullet points are, as they say, "the thing" these days;

Good things!

  • Unexpected oreo cake at work

  • Went to the gym at 10:30 this morning, so I managed to get in today's workout without being interrupted.

  • Found the charger for my bluetooth headset - I've been looking for it for weeks. Apparently not in the back pouch on my backpack, though.

  • Taxes done! It took an hour of trying at 6am this morning to get them filed, but it's done.

  • My back was quite sore when I woke up Monday morning, but it's been getting significantly better each day. I credit being dilligent about my stretching at the gym.

I was annoyed last night when work kept me from the gym, because missing Monday threatens to mung up my exercise schedule for the whole week.

Getting woken up at 4:21 this morning made getting a good workout today harder.

Now, I whacked my hand on the corner of a table hard enoguh that I can feel the bruise on the back of my hand in my palm, and my arm is throbbing from fingertips to elbow. I'm periodically running it under cold water for as long as I can stand, and I've taken advil, both to combat swelling. I can still move my hand, so I doubt it's broken, but making a fist is challenging. I don't think I should be doing any weightlifting with my right hand today. :(

I have a feeling this week is out to get me somehow...

ETA at 15:20: Okay, maybe it *is* broken. I'm going to drive home now and then call telehealth and see what they say.

ETAA at 16:54: At home now, and the pain seems to be receding. Even if it is broken, there's not much to be done for it.I'm going to wait a bit and then go on with my plans for the night. If it doesn't get better, I'll go see my GP tomorrow.

Since I've usually got something going on Friday night, I've been trying to do my Friday scheduled workout on my lunch hour. With work as busy as it is, what's been happening instead is that I end up eating lunch at my desk and not getting a lunch break at all, and not getting to the gym. This is not good.

I think I may have to start having my Friday nights start later than 4pm... I just don't know how else to manufacture the time.

:(
Weekend scoring:

WIN:

  • Got some sleep Friday, got enough sleep Saturday.

  • No caffeine since Friday.

  • Brunch on patio Sunday morning.

  • The riding boots are actually quite comfortable if I leave the orthotics out.

FAIL

  • Was on at Saturday night event for maybe 20 minutes; long enough to change clothes, so a single circuit of the place, and decide that the light and heat were making me feel like puking, so went home to bed.

  • Got sunburnt while having brunch on a patio Sunday morning.

I'm going to try to detox a bit this week; no alcohol, no caffeine, easy on the sugar. My kidneys/liver are kind of sore after the beating I gave them in the past three weeks, so a little time to recover seems like a good idea. This also means, of course, that I have to actually get enough sleep if this is going to work...

And now, back to the work I don't want to be doing.

Gooooood workout tonight.

I have coco camino spicy hot chocolate. I find I acutally like it more than the dagobah xocolatl; the former has more chili/cinnamon/ginger, while the latter has better chocolate.

I had hoped that the weather and roads would have improved by now. Now so luck. I'm farting around at work reading Lj and Girl Genius while I finish my hot chocolate. I think next I will go out, clean off my car and take a short drive to find somewhere to eat while I still can.

My lungs aren't very happy with me; thankfully I appear to have a doctor's appointment Thursday morning, so I can talk to the doc about the cough that's now in it's 4th or 5th week, and worsening - plus whatever the infection is seems to have spread to my eye.

Now, to go face the frost giants.

I juat got home at 9:30pm.

The good;

* bought and installed new wiper blades on the car
* got more windshield washer fluid
* got gas
* got groceries for tonight's dinner, my new recipe night contribution, and liz' NRN contribution
* got wine and sherry
* the new desktop ZIM! should arrive at the office before noon tomorrow

The bad;

* hip sore again, so workout was short. I blame lunges, and will try not doing them to see if that helps.
* I am so freaking tired that I don't have the energy to cook anything. But, if I don't, it will rot before it gets cooked. So, off to work I go. I think there is something weird about having to stay up past my bedtime just to get dinner ready. At least there is wine!

A quick Boo goes out to all the physical trainers I've had over the years - not one of you told me that I was doing certain stretches incorrectly, thus completely missing the muscles that are now injured.

I have a set of stretches to do twice a day, now, in addition to my regular ones, from the physiotherapist. I should consider getting myself a good book on stretching to see how the rest of the stuff I'm doing goes as far as proper form is concerned.

In other odd news, I couldn't find anyone to take my money at the PT place yesterday. I'll have to ask about that next time I'm in - I assume they'll want money at some point.
