Car got broken into again.

Same window broken. This time they had enough time to get the other doors open and ransack the trunk etc. They took the $2-3 from the dash, and made a mess. They didn't take our CDs, and didn't touch the stereo.

We checked the other cars down there, and found that one car had been ransacked that we could tell. No other cars had broken windows, including the one that's identical to ours in the other garage.

Once was sort of bemusing, but I'm quite pissed off at this point.

Last night I dreamt that we rented a lion. So we were stuck with this big freaking lion in our living room. The lion was knocking stuff over and generally being a pest, and we were all too terrified of it to try to stop him. The scene shifted, and we had a deck, and more than just the lion - we had a whole menagerie of dangerous animals, though none quite so big as the lion.

In other news, I now have a one inch spiderweb crack in my windshield. At lunch I will be trying to get that fixed.

The weather is gorgeous, and this is a three day week for me. Productivity is hard.

I juat got home at 9:30pm.

The good;

* bought and installed new wiper blades on the car
* got more windshield washer fluid
* got gas
* got groceries for tonight's dinner, my new recipe night contribution, and liz' NRN contribution
* got wine and sherry
* the new desktop ZIM! should arrive at the office before noon tomorrow

The bad;

* hip sore again, so workout was short. I blame lunges, and will try not doing them to see if that helps.
* I am so freaking tired that I don't have the energy to cook anything. But, if I don't, it will rot before it gets cooked. So, off to work I go. I think there is something weird about having to stay up past my bedtime just to get dinner ready. At least there is wine!

Good news: LJ seems to be allowing posting again!

Bad news: my car got broken into while in the garage last night

Good news: they only broke the small rear window and pulled out my backpack, which was on the seat. The dumped the backpack and took two bottles of prescription meds which have no street value. (one thyroid pill and maybe half a dozen low strength ativan pills)

So, the thief got nothing for his trouble, and I have a mess of broken glass to clean up and a window to replace. [livejournal.com profile] neeuqdrazil called the police, and someone is supposed to call us back later to take our report over the phone. She's on the line with the insurance company now. I'm fretting.

ETA: See True Crime pictures here. The insurance company told us not to bother filing a claim, since the repairs should be less than our deductible.

Tax refund arrived today. Do I spend it on body work on the car? Or put it into a savings account to sit and build interest for an eventual house down payment or other emergencies? (Emergencies like the car needing body work?) Hrm.

In other news, does anyone know a reputable body shop in Toronto?

Home safe now. I had a 4 hour commute home.

One of my co-workers is leaving this week, so we went out to a farewell lunch for her that ended up taking three hours. The drive back to the office was pretty rough, so after about 15 minutes, the call was made, and we all left.

I was on the road from 2:40 to 6:40, roughly. I ran out of energy at the first hour, but fortuitously, there was half a bottle of barq's in the car from the weekend, which woke me up enough to make it the rest of the way. On the bright side, I'm now much better at driving in snow.

Now I am very, very tired, and am going to go open a bottle of wine.

I had this plan. Since I was taking yesterday off, and the car needed to go in for maintenance, I would combine the two to minimize inconvenience. After some am/pm confusion, I got things worked out for an appointment. I dropped the carr off Monday night, discovering as I did so that the service centre no longer stays open until 9, but rather closes at 6, so I was on my own to get home. Fine, I had a token and got on the bus.

At 4pm yesterday, they call me, and tell me that nothing has been done to the car due to a power failure in the morning, but they'll get to it early Wednesday.

At 5, another guy calls, with no knowledge of the first guy's call. Says Wednesday is pretty full, and the first guy didn't put in an appointment. How's Thursday sound? I can drop my car off Wednesday night, and they can arrange a loaner...

But my car was already there, and I was already on my way to meet [personal profile] neeuqdrazil, and wouldn't be able to get there before they closed. Guy #2 said they'd look at it Wednesday.

So, today I woke up at 5:10 am, got out of the house by 6:30, caught the 7am shuttle to work, got in at 7:30. I'll have to rush my workout through at lunch time, and eat at my desk. Then, at 4 I will catch the shuttle back to TO, then TTC it out to the dealership, and hope that a) I can make it by 6, and b) it's actually done. If it isn't ready I'm going to go anyway and demand a loaner, because seriously, this is a big PITA. I'm expecting I'll end up at home around 7-ish, mkaing it more than 12 hours away from home. I am *not* doing this again tomorrow.

Last time I had to go three times just to get a frikken oil change. I'm starting to think they just don't want business. I go to the dealer because I'm lazy and don't have any idea what exactly I should be doing to my car on a regualr basis, but this is getting ridiculous.

car

( Dec. 5th, 2005 09:16 am)
At some point in the past week, someone hit our car. It didn't happen when we were in the car, so it was likely when it was parked on the street. Judging by the location of the dent, I suspect it was an SUV, van or similarly tall vehicle. It was obviously not a high speed impact, because the paint isn't scratched, and it's a pretty slight dent - I didn't even notice it until [livejournal.com profile] neeuqdrazil pointed it out last night. I'm guessing that it's not worth it to try to get insurance to cover a repair, since it's liely under the deductable. This is mostly a note to remind myself to ask the shop to look at it next time it's in.
