Question of the Day!

Ok, so everyone has answered the question "What superpower would you have if you could take your pick?" to death. For a slight spin on that, what would you do with your super power if you got it?

The real world beiong what it is, fighting crime is a remarkably awkward use of superpowers; if you were mighty enough to avoid getting killed, you'd likely end up killing and seriously injuring a lot of people, never mind the issues of resposibility and authority that lead to vigilantism being discouraged in the first place. Powerful enough to avoid that, and you're into world domination power levels with all the mess that implies.

So, with no supervillians and ignoring "fighting crime", what would Superman do? He could do various manual labour jobs really quickly, until the unions got him removed. Even then, the pay rate would likely be pretty low. The only powers that would likely result in financial gain would be those that allow the superperson to do things that are either impossible by conventional means, or extremely difficult/expensive.

The guy who can transmute matter's got a great job. I'm sure there are plenty of military positions for super people who are willing to kill.

What else?

If you got super powers, what would you do with them?

For myself, I'd want teleportation, super speed (maybe flying!) and super-not-flabbiness to get rid of my gut. I'd use them to visit people all over the place, and not have to buy a car.

The ability to glow in the dark, I could be "GLOW MAN" and I'd use it to create light where there is none. Or unoriginal but really funny I could be The Living Doll and shout out "I'm filled with tinier men!". Or useless as well are the Mystery Men powers my favourite truelly useless one is The Shoveller who could shovel really well.

I'd think this would be any easy request though cause I read a lot of comics, some of my favourite powers: Jay Hawksmoor, Green Lantern (Kyle not Hal), The Killer, and Ultimate Hulk.

So what would my usefull power be "The ability to create vast sums of wealth" And I'd use it to become something like Iron Man, but better, I'd have a giant suit that could kick godzilla's but and a suit with lots of weapons, and a normal suit, and a faster then light suit. That sorta thing, cause I have a lot of money I can do that.

I'd be telekenetic, mostly because I like the idea of having the ability to move objects with my mind. I'd probably use to help out during disasters, i.e., rescuing people trapped under heavy objects, etc. It probably would also come in handy if someone was trying to hurt me or anybody else. I wouldn't go out looking crime to stop, just if something happened while I was present.

Of course I think I've watched too many episodes of "Charmed," or I've seen the "X-Men" too many times. ;o)

Why stop with "not-flabbiness"? Why not, incredible Comliness and Charisma?

I've been contemplating a "Wild Cards 2000" sort of campaign for a while. I might have to put that together sometime.

Superspeed is just about the only power you'd ever need; I've known this since I was waaaay young (I remember having a dream when I was 7 or something where I had a little device with a button [with the Flash logo on it] that would give me superspeed). Depending on how powerful a level of superspeed we're talking, you're capable of almost anything.

As for what to do with it, hells, just about everything. From getting food and supplies to those in war-torn or disaster areas, to disarming Iraq (as in everybody, just to be fair) to getting time to visit family whenever I wanted, never having to worry about work deadlines and taking out the garbage in a few fractions of a second. Too cool.

Because once it stops being "good looks" it gets itno the mind control region, and I'd always have the question of "would they like me without the mind control?" question, which would drive me nuts.
