ahhh, my personal fave: the parliamentary spit-take ;-)

(why, for the record is "shittake" not pronounced like spit-take? these are the Imortant Questions that keep me awake between one coffee and the next...)

Do you mean the Rant? Because if so I have to say: Fuck yes.

Funny - I thought that came out last year. Huh.

At any rate, it certainly was quite well done. And continues a rare tradition that we have in this country of politicians being willing to be involved in or the subject of comedy. The best in living memory for me was the time that Danny Williams hosted This Hour Has 22 Minutes pretending to be Mark Critch. That was golden material.

Ha!

Dude, sweet. I gotta remember to watch RMR... might actually bother to subscribe to a torrent RSS...

Yup, it's an older segment (hence the presence of Belinda Stronach, who isn't an MP anymore.

If you're talking about the mushroom, probably because it's actually spelled "shiitake" not "shittake" - two i's, one t, not the other way around.

Ah - I watched the wrong one first (the rant)as well. Though I did enjoy that one, particularly the line "I find it embarrassing, and I've been naked on national television!"

But yes, the "Dude" one is pretty funny too. I like to when politicians actually have a sense of humour. One of my favourite This Hour Has 22 Minutes moments was when the then-premier of BC (it was one of the NDP ones, but I can't now remember which) was confronted by "Marg, Princess Warrior" and unlike most of her targets, totally played along.

She was telling him how in order to boost his flagging popularity, he needed to have a sex scandal, like "That nice Mr. Clinton down south", and he put his arm around her and said "All right, babe - you and me!"

Her response was pretty choice, too: "Ah, heavens no darlin' - I haven't the knees for it!"
