Agreed that genetic descent is really fishy. And, it can't be just about physical locality -- e.g. white people with feather bonnets.

How much is our (let's say, general western European, and especially English western European) arguably descended from (ancient) Egyptian culture? Given that it is quite clear that our culture has at least some strong roots in Roman culture, Rome was found around 750 BC, and the pyramids (as an anchor for ancient Egyptian culture) were built starting around 2600 BC, with 1900 years in there, it is quite likely that there was a lot of Egyptian influence -- quite possibly through ancient Greek culture. I'd say it is quite arguable that, while we aren't physically in that space, that culturally the ancient Egyptians are as much our cultural ancestors as they are of modern (e.g. coptic Christian or Moslem) Egyptians.
