I tend to post, generally, for one of two reasons; one being that I'm bored and feel like rambling. The other is to angst and whine. After noticing that my journal contained far more of the latter than the former, I've been self-editing more and more. I'm doing this because I don't want to be "one of those journals" that has nothing in it besides self-indulgent whining and begging for attention. The world is neither entitled to, nor interested in, my damage.

I have a theory about journals, for a guy they have two uses;

1. Record your activities and work
2. Attract women (or men for those so inclined)

On the other hand the only reason we do activities and work is to get number 2.

I'm always interested in reading/hearing your thoughts, love.

Don't self-edit. You need to get it out. Lock things if you have to, so that no one can read them, or so that only a couple of people you trust can read them.

But get this shit out of your head.

I love you.

I don't edit, usually, I either get lazy and don't post or put it under a cut. That seems to please most people

Again, this is more a function of my "fuck what you think" attitude, but I try not to write my journal for others. Sometimes i do, specifically, and yeah, when I sound off my thoughts, I tend to piss people off.

*shrug* Everybody has their own way of using LJ. I find I feel better when I vent/rant than when I self-edit. YMMV, of course.

Maybe the world isn't, but your friends are. That's why I use LJ, anyway. So I can keep track of the people I care about when I can't be there for them in the flesh.
