holiday emergency!

Ok, not really an emergency.

We've got our team xmas lunch coming up this week, and the meeting request included the following;

[BigBoss] has agreed that we can make this a casual dress day (yes that does mean jeans) however there is a condition...you must wear something of a festive nature or colour with it - a santa hat, elf boots, something red or green etc.

I'm not going to be wearing red n' green... but I want to maximise my casuallness, since I typically only get to wear jeans once a month. Does anyone know where I can get a black santa hat before Thursday morning? If I have to, I suppose I can make one... but I don't want to put too much effort into this if I can avoid it.

if all else fails, you could wear something blood red that isn't at all christmassy
if you had red stompy boots, that would be hot, but those are probably hard to find (and really expensive)

Well, it's easy enough to get my hands on red stompy boots; I know several stores that sell them. Ijust don't have the spare $800 to pick up a pair... :)

maybe you could make yourself a quick little black elf hat out of felt
i don't think that they are all that difficult to make...

Believe it or not, I actually have a floppy green elf's hat. If you want it, it's yours.

Umm..I also have this beautiful black shirt that I still haven't gotten dry-cleaned, on accounta I suck.

Naw, I'm specifically looking for something black-yet-christmas-y; the folks at work make a big deal out of me wearing something not-black, and I don't want to give them the satisfaction of seeing me in a green or red hat. I'm going for something that says "Grinch" or "Bah, Humbug". Abiding by the letter of the law while violating the spirit. :)

As for the black shirt, though, there's no specific dire need for it, so long as I get it back before too long...

If you have the time and money, might I suggest a t-shirt, with images of Brittany Spears, Paris Hilton and Christina Aguilera together, with the words Ho!Ho!Ho! underneath?

For some political relevance, switch the images to Bush, Blair and Condoleeza Rice.

At Wal-Mart the other day (in their Christmas tree/ornament/etc. area) I saw a santa hat that was red with black trim instead of white. You might want to check there (if Wal-Mart has infested the Toronto area).
