I made myself a new icons; this is the image I am planning to get tattooed on the inside of my wrists. I figured that I needed a moon-yin-female symbol to balance out the sun-yang-male thorn crowned suns on my shoulders. The image isn't perfect, but it's close enough that, by the time I get around to getting it done (there are some ravens that want to be on my back first), I should be pretty settled with it.

I haven't quite figured out how the ravens will look. There's going to be one on each shoulder blade, in profile, looking outwards with their tailfeathers not quite meeting. I've done some sketches, but they end up looking too "real"; I want them to be a bit more stylized, and more Norse-looking, but I haven't found much in the way of good source material. If I can't find something myself by the time I can afford to get them done, I'll ask the artist for help; I'm planning on getting Leah Miller from Urban Primitive to do it, though I have heard that UP are planning to relocate to Fergus to open a "Tattoo Spa"/bed & breakfast.

The longer term plan is to put in a tree behind the ravens, running along my spine with the serpent/dragon Nidhog coiled at the base for some combination kundalini/norse symbolism. Eventually I am thinking that I might have Daemon Rowanchild at Urban Primitive do some freehand "darkwave" stuff to fill in the shoulders and back in subtle shades around the brighter symbol tattoos.

One of the things I really like about UP is that they have a whole tattoo consultation process to go over the image, plus they've got a pretty nice research library on site.
