For what it's worth, I've long since decided that I need to get rid of the current design. I just haven't had a chance to spen a couple days playing with it.
Also, being on my work laptop's screen all week is reminding me how annoying it can be for people with small screens.

You know that Firefox renders your page all garbl-y on the windows machines?

The biggest problem is that he's got a huge monitor at home, which is where he views LJ, so the big floating box doesn't bother him.
For us poor peons with small monitors, we can only see half of the screen at a time.
