Well, the first bleaching is done. I may have to do the second bleaching tonight, instead of Thurs/Fri as I had planned - my hair is currently an incandescent shade of orange, gold and white. Next time I am going to have to ignore the directions on the box and leave the bleach in longer. It looks kind of neat right now, but I don't think work would be happy with it as it stands...

Sounds like a cool colour now... but anyway I wouldn't leave bleach or colouring on longer than the max in the directions because you could give your scalp a chemical burn.

That's not how it works with the good 'ol peroxide.

You really do need to do multiple processes, because the chemical reaction slows and eventually ceases to bleach after about 30 minutes, regardless. The only way to get a more effective single process is to mix your own shit, and use a lower dilution of peroxide (they come in 10, 20 & 30 percent solution at Shoppers - 30 is Styx in a bottle).

I REALLY do not recommend this for the casual bleacher. Like, if you are going to bleach your hair white less than 10 times in your life, it just isn't worth the risk of making your own smack. Buy the blondissima, buy two boxes, give your scalp some time to heal in the interim, do the double process.

God, I sound MAD bossy when it comes to this junk, but I swear it's only because I want others to learn from my painful peroxide mistakes of yore.

The two-round approach is where I'm headed anyway... it may not give me the cute platinum look I was hoping to have for a day or so, but the important thing is that the hair is shredded enough for the blue to take well enough to hold for most of a week before I have to cover it up.

I may call on your expertise if I ever find myself able to go crazy-haired for a longer period of time, though.

Aww, I love it when a boy self-describes as "hoping to be cute"!

Most boys hope to be "fearsome" or "dominating" or "ice-meltingly suave, a la James Bond". "Cute" works with the ladies just as well, though.

Justin looked a step up from cute when I dyed him platinum last Hallowe'en. I'd go so far as to label him "adorkable".
