We went camping a few times when I was wee, but I don't actually remember much of the how to do stuff stuff. So yeah, learning is good.
On the plus side - an excuse to go shopping at Crappy Tire/MEC! (clearly I need another few knives and hatchets! And boots!) (wait, I need something to make and eat food with? Dude!)
I need to find a day to venture to Oakville to loot my parents' stuff - I know they have a biggish tent (old enough to have steel poles instead of fibreglass), but I have to see what else they'e still got.
And then there's some of the fire and light stuff here and here (flashlight that never needs batteries! firesteel! A lighter that will work underwater!)
No more showing me stuff I don't need but desperately want! I need to buy all the basics (like a flashlight on a headband) before I get the really cool, really frivolous stuff.

I saw your post, and thought "Hey, I keep saying I want to go camping. Too bad I can't go. Wait. Why can't I go? I guess I could!"

I know! They have such cool and nifty stuff. If I'm actually going camping, then I'm totally justified in buying it, too!
