Ow.

([personal profile] curgoth Jul. 3rd, 2006 02:39 pm)
Last Friday, I did lower body at the gym. I had a great time, pushed myself, etc. So, my legs were sore. As usual, two days later, they hurt like hell. I also noticed that my back was sore, but it seemed like part of the package. Today, the legs are mostly better. The back, however, is much worse. I've had to cancel my plans for today because I can't move well enough to put pants on, let alone drive. So now I am sitting in my chair sweating like crazy - I suspect the heat is making it worse. My lovely lizardlove is gone to get me robaxacet, and possibly ice cream. I am loved. And also a dumbass. Ow.

Is it your lower back, right where it meet your hips? If so, that hurts like a bitch. I injured my SI joint about 6 weeks ago, and it's still healing. If you have ice packs, start icing the painful area ASAP to quell the muscle inflamation.

When I hurt my back, my first instinct was put heat on it too. My chiro told me that an injured muscle is inflamed, and heat pools blood near the inflammation, which is not good. Ice reduces the inflammation, which is why I've spent many happy hours these past weeks sitting on an ice pack. ;P

having said area as an ongoing problem, please please please PLEASE ice and stretch. do not heat. It makes it worse.
