Well, I have learned something. Papier mache paste does not work with my mask armature. I tried to add a second layer to reinforce it, and the whole thing crumbled. All I have left is a beak.

I have a backup of stuff to make more traditional papier mache. If this fails, I will cry.

I am very, very tired.

*sad face for you*

I made a lovely papermache mermaid to go on the front of a raft in an old fashioned raft race. She hit the river when the raft decided to float 6 inches BELOW the waterline.

It was a sad moment.

Wishing for you success in the next endeavour!

Corbet came up with this very easy and stable paper tape technique. You make a paper helmet out of a couple of loops and build it up with layers of masking tape, then paint and decorate. Heavy construction paper would let you do some amazing builds.

That's how we made Bruce the Gargoyle -- looks cool, and it's the most comfortable mask I've ever worn :-)
