For [livejournal.com profile] much_ado

There once was a man from Nantucket
whose walrus oh so luved its bukket.
One day walrus groaned,
it had just gotten pwned;
Said the lolcat "O HAI, I JUST TUK IT".

I post this every year on Valentine's Day.

It's not directed at anyone.

I'm just generally bitter about Valentine's Day.

A Valentine's Day Poem

Violets are blue
Roses are red
I hate you
I wish I was dead.

Caffeine paranoid
You are all out to get me
And my magic beans!

Chemically awake
Bad for me but I must work
I wish I could sleep

Creeping ants inside
I want to go hide away
Grey summer skies fume

More than one person has posted poetry today, and I seem to be in a mood for it.

So, recommend poetry to me. Who's your favourite poet? What should I read that I haven't?

(My favourite, by the by, is Yeats.)

Alternatively, write me a poem! I'll save you from having to read any of mine, though.

Exhausted people
Are less charming than normal
I need to sleep more.

When you see this, post poetry on your journal.

For Anne

With Annie gone
Who's eyes to compare to the morning sun?
Not that I did compare,
But I do compare, now that she's gone.

He Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven (W. B. Yeats)

Had I the Heaven's embroidered cloths.
The blue and the dim and dark cloths
Of the light and the night and the half light
I would lay them at your feet
But I, being poor, have only my dreams
Tread softly, for you tread on my dreams.

Let's Play tag...
This is a new game [livejournal.com profile] corwin77 invented. It's called LitTag. The gist is this...I post a quote or short reading or poem...then I tag some one this person posts a piece they like and tag someone and so it goes.

William Blake's "The Sick Rose"

O Rose, thou art sick!
The invisible worm
That flies in the night,
In the howling storm,

Has found out thy bed
Of crimson joy:
And his dark secret love
Does thy life destroy.

I'm not sure why, but damn near everyone I know is having a really shitty time with life right now.

(And I'll be there for you... As the world falls down...)

For myself, I've been on the edge lately; meandering through melancholy, edging through ennui, but today, I am beginning to feel truly depressed. The sort of mood where even when I smile I feel like crap.

(O Rose, thou art sick)

I recite bad goth poetry now;

Despair, despair,
As black as my hair

Despair, despair,
Joy has gone; where?

Despair, despair,
Wish I'd get killed by a bear

Despair, despair,
I wish life was fair

(It is the blight that man was born for; It is Margaret you mourn for)
