Joints hurt today. My fingers are swollen enough that I actually had to take my ring off. Slept like crap. Humidity and heat - DO NOT WANT. Taking robaxacet for the joint and muscle pain, and tea for the slept like crap and the robaxacet drowsiness. Also, work's dress code is really dumb on days like this - long pants and button down shirts in this weather is just mean.

It rained hard engouh last night that the sub basement parking garage (where my spot is) flooded. When I got home last night there was enoguh water that it was an inch over the elevator door. I walked up one floor to get the elevator.

This morning, the water level had lowered, but half the garage is still underwater. Fun! the humidity is hihg enough that the rain droplets on the car from last night were still there.

On closer inspection, the elevator sign about the scary guy is much worse than I first thought. The guy is known to police, and hung around for two hours after being refused entry to our building after making an indecent proposal to a woman entering the building. This guy apparently does this to neighbourhoods, lurks around trying to get into buildings. There is a warrant for his arrest from previous lurking. If we see him, we're supposed to go inside and call the cops, and NOT tell the guy we're doing so.

On the plus side, a gazebo has been obtained.

You're right. Long pants and button-down shirts are a ridiculous thing to require people to wear in hot weather.

*hugs*

It is still not the most ridiculous thing to wear on a hot summer day. I once had to dress in a giant inflatable timbit costume. It was like being really hot and sweaty and yet not being able to wipe said sweat away. That was...fun.

Okay, that sounds awful. Still, I'm guessing that job was like my erstwhile job at a historical site, which required me to wear a long-sleeved long dress in midsummer—the unpleasant costume was part of the job.

There is nothing intrinsic to writing code that requires the coder to wear trousers or a button-down shirt.

That is true. I work in an office but we're at least allowed short sleave dress shirts or golf shirts.

That reminds me of the time I came back to rez for my second year of university and heard that one of the guys had spent his summer walking up and down the beaches of Toronto in a giant rubber condom costume. It was one of those jobs that seemed like fun on paper...

Dude me and Pez are free this Friday. You've got a Batman costume, and weapons. I say we 'patrol'. :D

Dammit I was anonymous. In case you couldn't tell.

Wow, I think you got all the rain -- we didn't get a drop, despite many many sky threats. But you also got all the heat and humidity, cuz it's a mere 24C and unmuggy here today. How very strange. But maybe you're paying off on some good Kscope weather in advance?

Your office is at least a/c'ed, I hope?

Sorry.

Hope your joints feel better. :(

I've mentioned before about the flame-retardant coveralls, and that we work outside in the summer, but now managment wants to take away our source of cool clean water.
