What Do I Do With... is a web app for determining how to properly dispose of your junk. The only problem I have is that it seems to fail for appartments - it'll tell me how to dispose of electronics at curbside for houses and residential voer commercial, but not for appartment buildings. Also, their list of waste depots only has addresses, no maps. I can look it up, but having them show me where they are would simplify things.

I think we're up to four or five dead computers in our place. Space is beginning to be an issue.

I believe for that number of dead computers, you can get a toxic taxi to call.

Check it out (just google toxic taxi)

I can take them to my office for free. One of the few advantages of working in a toxic waste dump. Just let me know when and if you're coming.

There are a few options. Staples now has dropoffs in most of its Ontario stores, and Best Buy has a few, too.

And if they have any resurrection potential, they can happily go to ReBoot at Dufferin and Dupont. http://www.rebootcanada.ca/

I second reBOOT. I've given them lots of stuff. They take all electronics and if they can be reused, they will get donated. Otherwise, they'll get recycled. That way, you don't have to think too hard about whether certain things should get sent to Place A and other things to Place B.

Additionally, the Inorganic Market will recycle everything you give them (recycled in North America, i.e. US and Canada, not sent to China and India to create bigger environmental/health problems due to improper recycling procedures).

Looks like EcoExistence on Vaughan is the closest drop-off point to your place. I'd call first to see if they'll take whole computers. Otherwise, reBOOT. 'Cept that's only open on weekdays until 4 or 4:30. Still fairly close (between Dovercourt and Dufferin, just a tad north of Dupont).
