Does anyone has an optometrist they like in the general Yonge/St. Clair or Forest Hill areas? The last eye checks I had were from a surly, unhappy guy in a closet attached to a chain optical retail store, and I'd rather not go back there.
Mine is downtown, but he's really great - friendly, knowledgeable, open about stuff the optical industry might prefer you didn't know (like that it's perfectly fine to wear most types of disposable contacts for a lot longer than the recommended 30 days), and occasionally a font of entertaining stories about weird shit people have done with their contacts (at one clinic he used to work at, he was the designated guy they sent all the really odd cases to, apparently).
He actually works out of two different places, if I recall correctly, but one of them is in the suburbs, so the downtown one (in the concourse under the Yonge/Queen branch of the Bay, next to their optical department but not officially linked to it) is generally more accessible.
His name's Dr. Kyle Pae (last name pronounced like "pie"), and the phone number for the downtown clinic is 416-861-6156.
I don't know one in your neighbourhood, but last time I had my eyes checked I went to Dr. Gina Gincauskas, who has a clinic in the ground floor of an old house a few steps from Dundas West station. She was friendly and the clinic looked well kept.
