While I was in the UK last xmas, I had allergies mixed with a cold of some kind, so I ended up taking sudafed to keep myself going. In the past, sudafed has hit me like speed, so I was pleasantly surprised to note that the stimulant effects seemed to be pretty mild. I noticed that the active ingredient wasn't pseudoephedrine as it is in North America, but figured that it was just a different name for the same thing. Today I looked it up, and no, it's not. So, until I use up the last of this stuff (or it expires, which it may do soon), I have cold medication that won't keep me up for a week straight... I'm kind of curious why pseudoephedrine hits me so hard when phenylephrine hydrochloride doesn't, despite having similar warnings, etc.
