Early U.S. Daylight Savings a bust in power savings

So, the main result was a big headache for IT staff throughout North America.

I'd really just prefer to see DST removed entirely.

I do believe that we should get rid of DST entirely, but I'd rather we
went to a perminent DST shift instead of year long on standard time.

Right, so Philadelphia & Toronto are GMT-6 (EDT) all year instead of GMT-5 (EST).

I agree. Ban Daylight Saving Time! Most people can't even spell it right.

Actually, it is EST5/EDT4. So, we'd be staying permanently in GMT-4, though GMT is now called UTC.

Apparently I can stay up way to late or do math, but not both.

An unscientific use of google shows that GMT appears on the web 6x as often as UTC, so I'm not going to feel bad about continuing to use it.

The only weird part of that is that noon would be an hour off of noon, if you get my meaning. (Noon, in theory, being the time when the sun is directly in the middle of the sky. Time zones make this approximate, but even so.)

I like having the longer evenings of daylight, and don't care about getting up in the dark -- so if we stop doing the switch to/from DST, I'd like to do so by staying in permanent DST.

Exactly. I want time to go for a bike ride safely when I get home from
work, I hate riding in the dark 'cuase the roads around here are too
crappy (and the drivers are idiots). Or do yard work, or whatever. I
find myself really stressed when I can only do certain things on
weekends due to sunlight!

DST was a nightmare for me, even after all the patching, everyone's Blackberry's were effed up and our labour scheduling programs were all off, then on the sunday people come into work and can't punch in, bah!!!
