Yet more anti-Liberal stuff going on in my riding.

"A family with a sign received a threatening phone call saying, 'Take your sign down or you'll be next,'" Bennett told CBC News on Tuesday.

I remain baffled by this. What the hell is going on? If I had a front lawn, I'd be putting up a Bennett sign, even thoguh I'm likely not voting for her.

I adore that this is a fairly common response among people I know to this behaviour. Makes me proud of at least some of my compatriots. Helps balance the shame of knowing the perpetrators are just as likely compatriots. :/

Unless there is a remote chance that there is a conspiracy from the top of the local conservative party, it's probably some unstable individual with a grudge. It can happen. There was a church here in the states (can't remember where) who very recently experienced a crazed gunman who attacked them because they allowed "liberal views" and he thought "liberals" had ruined his life.

I hope the police were able to trace the call. It's pretty scary.

(I also had to look up the word riding [in Wikipedia] because I wasn't entirely certain as to what you meant, although I had an idea. Did you know the word comes from late Old English by way of Old Norse?)

Yes, it's pretty freaky - I think it's likely just the work of some crackpot rather than anything organized, particularly since the news stories have mentioned that some of the graffiti mixes up federal politicians with provincial ones, and/or mixes different ridings. But, still, the inflammatory rhetoric from some of the Conservatives may have inspired whoever it was to slip a few gears...

Maybe you could put a sign on your balcony? I've done that before in apartments - tied it to the outside of the railing. Unfortunately my current apartment has no balcony and no way of putting a sign outside, though I suppose I could hang one inside my window.

I have absolutely no idea who to vote for in this election. I'm not generally apathetic about the government, I usually have strong feelings about the way things *should* be done. This time though, who is there to choose from??

Yes, I am in his riding, and don't worry, I won't be voting conservative.

I'm thinking of voting NDP simply because the guy in my riding was on my football team in high school.
