I am now on yaycation!

The purple pride hair is long gone. I dyed over it with black. This looked... terrible. I shaved the beard off except for the long patch under my lip, and it now looks better, but still suboptimal. I miss my beard already with its fuzziness and chin-enhancing properties. I also wish I had dyed that patch of hair that is left down there. It looks weird being mostly blond with the black hair.

I am now pretty much ready for camping! Plans have changed, so instead of a leisurely morning with me needing to be ready to go for 10 tomorrow, I now need to be up at Yorkdale for 6:45 am. So I need to get up *earlier* than usual! The reasons for this make sense, so I am not upset, just somewhat startled. (wait! I forgot about bananas, chocolate and chili! Those shouldn't go until tomorrow, but I had forgotten about them, I write this to remind myself tomorrow.) I also still need to make trail mix. [livejournal.com profile] pez_minotaur will be by soon to pick up 95% of my gear.

Shit! Just realised that my plans to do laundry tomorrow morning to free up the remaining items of clothing I want to take will not work. Time to go violate the operating hours on the building's laundry room. See you all Monday.

Surreal moment this morning.

I woke up, in darkness, and looked over at my clock. The numbers were changing, couting upwards. I checked my clock to see if something was pushing down one of the buttons on top of it. Nothing was.

I eventually woke up enough to remember that there are sleep and snooze buttons on the detached speaker on the other side of my dresser, and eventually woke up enough to go over and turn the speaker over (it had gotten turned upside down some time in the evening). At that point the clock stopped counting and went back to showing that it was about 4:20am.

In other words, sleep still hates me. I am exhausted.

Will a White Easter make up for our Green Christmas?

Dear NCIS,

It was good while it lasted, but now that you've decided to be a lame 24 clone instead of a more witty CSI clone, I'm afraid that it's over.

Dear House,

Keep up that wanking and you'll end up like NCIS.

Dear Heroes,

Come back! I love you!

Damned hard to find European size zippers.

I have a lot to say.

But no time to say it in.

All these moments will be lost in time.

Like tears in rain.

That was quite a storm last night.

Around 10:30 last night, the lights started to flicker. The cycling power seems to have fried some key piece of hardware in my linux server (where [livejournal.com profile] neeuqdrazil and I keep our e-mail, among other things). Due to earlier hardware problems on my workstation, that box had been off for a couple days, so my off-system backups for the linux box are a couple days old. When I get home tonight, I'll have to excavate the server and see if there's enough of it left to display error messages (right now it doesn't have a monitor, keyboard etc. hooked up). The savings I had set aside for replacing the linux server has cleverly evaporated in the last couple weeks, so this could be fun.

In addition, the storm last night knocked out the water to our building somehow. This means no shower this morning, and no brushing teeth. I am glad that there's a gym at work where I can do these things, otherwise it would be a very stinky day for me.

On the plus side, the problems with my workstation have mysteriously vanished.
