Last night, I dreamt that I was having trouble sleeping/dreaming. I was getting ready for sleep, and the operator was shoving long, slender needles into the base of my skull, along my spine, and into various points on my head. This was, in the dream, somewhat unsettling, but not nearly as terrifying as it should have been. I guess it explains why, in the dream, I didn't want to go back to sleep, though. And perhaps why I woke up in the middle of the night, and hence recall the dream.

Why does it sound like you were having a Matrix dream (operator, long slender needles to the base of the skull)

Yeah, it was kind of like that, except the needles were closer to accupuncture needles than the things in the matrix.
