*sigh*

Squeezing my old fat hairy self into my goth gear. Drinking absinthe, putting on eye-liner and boots for one last hurrah. Savage Garden is closing tonight. From tomorrow on, I'll no longer be able to count on going to Queen West on a Saturday night and being able to find music I want to dance to.

It's been in decline for over a year, and its clear that the fix is in for Queen West as an area for clubs and weird clothes. I wonder if this is how folks like William Gibson felt when Yorkville turned into the Yuppie Preserve it is today.

I am just hoping the next bohemian neighbourhood in Toronto is actually, y'know, in the city. I'd hate to have to drive to Mississauga to go dancing.

I feel really old.

"a year"?

there was once a time when I called Queen and Bathurst 'my living room'. But that was 15 years ago, damn near half my lifetime ago. I'm going out for "Old Home Week" as much as anything, and just hoping I don't leave feeling anchient.

I just stopped cause Paul kept playing the same set *every damn week*.

So does this mean we'll be seeing you at Neutral from now on? :) Velvet is still pretty good on Thursdays, and Lazarus has set up shop in The Bassment just 1/2 a block from Savage.

I went to the last Dark Retro and the old-skool gawth DJ gave me a flyer for a monthly night at some club called Z on Dundas West.

I went to Panic at the Bassment last month. It's a smaller space than Funhaus, kinda dark and labyrinthine. IOW, it reminds me a wee bit of Death and therefore I like it. :)

I'm also curious as to whether anyone's going to start a new club in the Savage and/or Funhaus spaces.

You had long hair!

I've been wondering the same thing in regards to the William Gibson/Yorkville thing. It's been disconcerting to see the city changing and I'm not sure if I'm going to like the result.

You feel old?!?

Try driving around in a cab the night of your "bridal shower" and every single dance club you remember dancing in is closed and long gone!!

Unfortunately, this city changes too often. I still miss "the Chez" which was THE BEST LBGT dance club in the city. Damned developers.......

Yep, remembering the Cheeze definitely makes me feel old...
